Pakistanis face power crisis on Pakistan Day

LAHORE: The spans of load shedding could not be slashed despite it being the holiday today in connection with Pakistan Day being observed across the country, Geo News reported Tuesday.

The power shortfall is still pegged at 5000 Megawatts.

Despite announcements from Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO), the load shedding went up and every grid is being shut down for 2 to three hours after every hour.

It has turned difficult for the domestic consumers to take a short peaceful nap. Children, youth and the elderly seem vexed and disturbed on the situation.

The power crisis has put also the industrialists on the horns of dilemma.

According to the Pepco officials, the power production stands 9000 MW well behind the consumption of 14000 MW.

The Pepco sources said the situation would improve in next few days; however, they fail to substantiate their expectations.
