‘Pakistan mindful of its international obligations’

ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Ministry is mindful of its constitutional, legal and institutional responsibilities in the case of US citizen Raymond Davis and is also aware of its responsibilities under Pakistani law, Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir said on Thursday. “The issue has many dimensions and we believe in the rule of law,” he added. Regarding the issue of immunity, Bashir said, the Foreign Ministry has not yet been asked to say anything on the issue by the courts. Answering a question about the impact of Davis case on Pak-US relations, he said the case did not in any way affect their cordial ties, and it will be premature to evaluate the impact so far. He expressed the hope that the issue would not cast any shadow on bilateral relations. app
