Gilani, Nawaz, discuss political situation on telephone

LAHORE: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani telephoned Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz chief, Nawaz Sharif, and discussed the overall political scenario with him, a private TV channel reported on Thursday.
Gilani said that it was the need of the hour to abide by the constitution and rule of law in order to strengthen the state institutions. All the political parties, including the main opposition party, he said, had rendered great sacrifices for the restoration of democracy and called for adherence to the Charter of Democracy, to further solidify the gains.
Gilani said that resolution of the issues and challenges confronting the country require collective wisdom and efforts. The leading political parties, he added, have greater responsibility on their shoulder in this regard.
