PBC warns government of countrywide strike

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) on Friday warned the federal and provincial governments that legal fraternity would give a nationwide strike call if it failed to recover abducted judges and lawyers of Balochistan.

PBC Vice Chairman Abdul Lateef Afridi, strongly condemned the abduction of District and Sessions judge Jan Muhammad Gohar Yasinzai and Sibi Civil Judge Muhammad Ali Khokar and four advocates, namely Munir Ahmad Mirwani, Agha Zahir Shah, Saleem Akhtar and Muhammad Tahir.

In a written statement, the PBC severely criticised the law enforcement agencies in Balochistan on their utter failure to recover the aforementioned judges and lawyers despite a lapse of seven days.

It asked the federal and provincial government to immediately recover the judges and lawyers of Balochistan, otherwise the PBC and the legal fraternity would be compelled to give a nationwide strike call.
