QUETTA: Lawyers staged a protest rally for the seventh consecutive day on Saturday demanding safe and immediate recovery of kidnapped judges and lawyers whose whereabouts are still unknown.

The lawyers did not appear before the superior and lower courts after 11:00am to condemn the kidnappings of judges and lawyers. They took out a procession and marched through different roads and held a demonstration in front of the Quetta Press Club. The protesting lawyers chanted full-throat slogans against the government and law enforcement agencies for their failure to find a clue regarding kidnapped judges.

Addressing the demonstrators, Balochistan Bar Association (BBA) President, Baz Muhammad Kakar, said that the prime minister had not taken the bar into confidence while forming a committee for the recovery of kidnapped judges and they would not accept the committee.

“The government has failed to maintain law and order, and the kidnapping of judges has proven the incompetency of the government,” Kakar said. He said lawyers would soon decide their future course of action with the consultation of political parties.

A member of the National Assembly, Advocate Usman, severely criticised the government and demanded fresh elections, saying it had failed to deliver good governance.

Balochistan Bar Council also announced that it would soon hold a seminar in Quetta and invite the bar councils and bar associations from across the country in order to discuss the incidents of kidnapping-for-ransom and recovery of bullet-riddled dead bodies in Balochistan.
