KARACHI: Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan leader Maulana Muhammad Ahmed Madni, who is also the brother of slain party chief Maulana Azam Tariq, was gunned down along with his son Abu Bakar in an incident of targeted killing in the Khawaja Ajmair Nagri police precincts on Saturday.
According to reports, Madni, 56, and his son Abu Bakar were in their vehicle when armed men on motorbikes intercepted them in Sector 5-J and sprayed their vehicle with bullets. As a result, Madni and his son sustained multiple injuries and were rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced them dead.
A score of activists of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) reached the hospital and shouted slogans over the continuous killing of the party’s leaders, workers and its supporters. Madni had stopped the vehicle to pick up someone when the assailants fired on him, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Altaf Hussain. He added that the assailants had tricked him into coming to the place.
