US embassy hosts youth leadership conference
ISLAMABAD: The United States embassy supported a youth leadership conference in Islamabad for Pakistani students, during which the participants were imparted leadership skills to help them create positive change in their communities.
The conference, titled “Giving Youth Tools to Become Change Makers”, was co-sponsored by the Pakistan-US Alumni Network and organised by alumni of US-government funded exchange programmes. The three-day event brought together 30 students (ages 16-18) from Punjab, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, Sindh, and Islamabad. The students held discussions on problem solving, democracy, conflict resolution, and youth empowerment. Speaking at the closing of the conference on Sunday, Cultural Affairs Assistant Officer, Saad Bokhari, said, “Our message for the youth of Pakistan is that we will continue to support you by teaching leadership skills, critical thinking, and respect for tolerance to help you serve the needs of your communities.”
