Health secy warns of action against unqualified anesthetists
KARACHI: Sindh Secretary Health Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has said that the government is chalking out a viable plan to take stern action against practicing anesthetist, who do not have a pre-requisite qualification in the specialty and also against those hospitals in and out of cities, which allow unqualified medical personnel for this purpose. This he said while addressing the inaugural ceremony of 31st Annual Congress of Pakistan Society of Anesthesiologists (PSA) at a local hotel here on Saturday. He said surgical operations are risky endeavors and it is the duty of the administrators, hospital owners and doctors to ensure that the operation theaters are adequately staffed and equipped and have at least the minimum suggested monitoring during surgery including qualified anesthesiologists. He said that a public awareness program should be launched to increase awareness among the public. staff report
