US consulate officials briefly detained in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Police on Monday detained four US nationals for their “suspicious activities” near the Peshawar Airport and later freed them, officials said. “Officials of the University Town Police Station arrested four Americans after they were spotted photographing sensitive installations in the area,” said an official Daily Times spoke to. However, the detained Americans were released after they proved their identities. “They have been working for the US Consulate General in Peshawar,” added the official who wished anonymity. Another official of the University Town Police Station said the foreigners were detained after they refused to offer any document that might prove them as workers of the consulate. According to the police, the Americans identified themselves as Avenindry, Wesley, Geoffrey and Christopher. staff report
