Train service suspended after fuel shortage
LAHORE: Thousands of passengers had to face inconvenience after closure of several trains from Lahore due to fuel shortage on Friday.
The railway station information office (117) said that all trains on Lahore-Faisalabad and Lahore-Narowal sections had been suspended while 117-Up/118-Down Moosa Pak Express, 38-Up Express, 327-Up /328-Down train for Peshawar, 321-Up/ 322-Down, 229-Up/230-Down Sultan Bahu Express, 325-Up/326-Down Noor Shah Express and 177-Up/ 178-Down Express were also stopped due to the non availability of fuel.
When contacted, Muhammad Ashfaq Khattak, PR General Manager (GM) Operations, did not respond.
However, Abdul Jabbar, PR Divisional Superintendent Lahore, said that all trains were running and not a single train had been suspended.
Malik Sajjid Advocate, President Daily Passengers Association (DPA), alleged that fuel shortage was the result of mismanagement by Railway administration, adding that the GM Railways was not interested in facilitating passengers.
"The GM wants to close all short distance trains as he said in his statement some days ago," he added.
