PPP fails to woo Ch. Nisar on President’s address


ISLAMABAD: A delegation of PPP, on the directives of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, met leader of opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhary Nisar and sought PML-N cooperation to cancel expected boycott of President Asif Ali Zardari’s address to the joint session of Parliament, Geo News reported on Saturday.

The delegation, led by federal minister for inter-provincial coordination Raza Rabani comprised of Naveed Qamar, Nazar Muhammad Gondal and Pervez Ashraf. PML-N leaders Zahid Hamid and Sardar Ayaz Sadiq were also present in the meeting.

According to sources, Chaudhary Nisar excused to ensure abandoning expected boycott of the President’s address to joint session of the parliament. He stated that the PML-N parliamentary party, in this regard, would make final decision.

Earlier, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani telephoned Chaudhry Nisar and informed him about the meeting of PPP delegation with him.

Nisar, after the meeting, refused to talk to media.

Talking to media, Raza Rabani said that he took Ch. Nisar into confidence over the President’s address to the joint session on March 22.
