Cable Operators Association calls off strike
KARACHI: Cable Operators Association this morning announced calling off its strike, Geo News reported.
Winding up their 24 hours token strike curbing private channels, Khalid Arain said that they could go on strike again, if the PEMRA took further action against them and reserve the right to change the channels’ positions on 48 hours notice. “This is only a token strike, if the issues are not resolved, then further actions would be taken,” he added.
It may be recalled that Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered all the cable operators to end the illegal curbs on all the channels of Geo Group and refrain from such practice in future.
Amjad Hussain Bukhari had filed the petition No.821/2011 on behalf of Geo, which was heard by the Division Bench constituted of the Chief Justice, Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Syed Hassan Azhar.
SHC in its order has said that all the channels should be restored forthwith and the Geo Channels’ positions on cable should also not be changed.
