10 killed in Sialkot dust storm
ISLAMABAD: At least ten people were killed and several others were hurt when a heavy dust storm hit Head Marala area of Sialkot district on Saturday.
According to private TV channels, the dust storm whipped the whole area of Head Marala, resulting in deaths of ten people and injuries to many others.
Several houses and shops were destroyed in the storm. The Pakistan Army and rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the injured to the Civil Hospital and Allama Iqbal Hospital.
Severe windstorm and cyclone wreaked havoc at noon on Saturday in the nearby villages of Sialkot, including Machrala, Nazir Pura, Bahadar Pur, Dera Bhattian and Pallowal.
The cyclone caused severe damage to over 50 houses. As many as 10 people were buried alive under the debris of the collapsed houses. Trees were uprooted and dozens of cattle were also killed in the storm. The Sialkot district commissioner officer confirmed the casualties. app
