* PM says terrorists trying to sabotage govt’s efforts for socio-economic development will be brought to justice
Staff Report
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has resolved to ensure security in Balochistan at every cost through close coordination between provincial and federal law enforcement agencies.
The terrorists trying to sabotage government’s efforts for socio-economic development of the province will be apprehended and brought to justice, he said.
The PM was talking to a four-member delegation from Balochistan led by Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani on Tuesday.
The PM reiterated that the government had the commitment for the development of Balochistan, which will be honoured. “The socio-economic development of Balochistan is not only essential for the prosperity of the people of the province but would also open up economic linkages with the rest of the country,” he said
Gilani said that while Aghaz-e-Haqooq Balochistan covered all sectors, special focus would be laid on infrastructure development to enhance connectivity with other provinces of the country. He assured that the water courses, embankments and roads affected by floods would be repaired on priority basis.
About the release of requisite funds for the ongoing mega projects in Balochistan, he assured the delegation that directions would be issued to the organisations concerned for taking speedy action in this regard.
He asked the members of the delegation to keep strict vigilance on the progress work in different areas of the province and keep him abreast with the details.
Raisani apprised the PM on the progress of various development works in the province as well as the impediments in early completion of projects, due to the delay in release of funds. About the precarious security situation in Balochistan, the delegation informed the prime minister that the involvement of foreign elements was spoiling the peace and tranquility in some areas of the province.
The security situation, they said, needed to be improved, so that socio-economic development could take place.
They said that people of the province had a great desire to see a positive change in their lives through an improved standard of living, increased job opportunities and developed civic amenities.
