Lok Virsa, PNCA add colours to Pakistan Day festivities

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Day was observed in the federal capital in a befitting manner. There was public holiday on Wednesday and all government offices, banks and private offices remained closed. Pakistan Day Parade was cancelled owing to security reasons. The day dawn with 31 gun salutes in capital and a flag hoisting ceremony at 9am. A large number of people, especially children and women, thronged Lok Virsa with a vow to make Pakistan prosperous. Lok Virsa and Ministry of Culture organised different programmes on its complex at Garden Avenue and Pak-Chinese Friendship Centre, Shakarparian to celebrate the 71st Pakistan Day and commemorate Lahore Resolution adopted on March 23, 1940 to mark this auspicious occasion. The daylong festivities brought together artisans, artists, NGOs and government organisations and students to evaluate their failures and achievements for the future plans to make Pakistan flourishing and peaceful. Wearing their traditional dresses, Kashmiris of Islamabad and Rawalpindi also participated in the celebrations. The programmes included artisans-at-work featuring master craftspeople from different corners of the country, performances by traditional drummers and folk dance groups attired in beautiful colorful costumes. In the evening, PNCA in collaboration with Lok Virsa, Ministry of Culture also hosted a cultural show at the Friendship Centre wherein several prominent artists and musicians from all provinces presented popular national songs. The participating artists included Taranum Naz, Shaukat Ali, Sahira Tahir, Humaira Naz, Subhan Rathar, Shan, Sanam Marvi. Folk, Sufi and classical dances were also arranged at the centre. ali hassan
