Benazir’s killers arrested, will be made public soon
* Interior minister says probe into BB’s assassination has been completed, report will be presented before Central Executive Committee of PPP
LAHORE: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik said on Friday that all those involved in the killing of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto have been arrested and promised that everything ascertained in the inquiry into the high profile assassination would be made public, a private TV channel reported.
Talking to journalists in Gujar Khan tehsil after inaugurating a passport office there, Malik claimed that “it has been ascertained where the plot to assassinate Benazir Bhutto was carried out, which vehicle was used, how the killers reached the crime site and then managed to flee”.
The minister said that “the government has fulfilled its promise”. He said that everything would be made public but first this report would be presented before the Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Central Executive Committee.
Malik, however, added that the PPP’s committee would decide whether to disclose the names of the killers or wait, said the channel.
The minister called upon India and Afghanistan to sit with Pakistan to think over the issue of terrorism which, he opined, could be eliminated by joining hands. He informed the reporters that the agenda for the upcoming talks between Pakistan’s interior secretary and Indian home minister had been finalised.
Meanwhile, a US Congressional delegation called on Malik at the Ministry of Interior and discussed with him a host of issues. The minister told the delegation that Pakistan had been taking decisive measures for elimination of terrorism, adding that the country had given great sacrifices in the war on terror. daily times monitor/app
