People should protect themselves not depend on government: Sattar
KARACHI: MQM Deputy Convener Farooq Sattar has appealed to people to protect themselves and not look towards government institutions.
During a news conference, Sattar called on the people to form neighbourhood committees and initiate a system of patrolling.
Sattar added that condemning brutal attacks such as the one in Abbas Town had now become routine and compensation should be provided to those affected by the blast.
The MQM leader further said that homes and shops destroyed in the blast should be reconstructed on the expense of the government.
Earlier in a statement, MQM Chief Altaf Hussain said if the perpetrators of the Abbas Town blast were not arrested within three days, the people of Sindh would be forced to keep business closed until terrorism was eliminated.
