Finance Ministry to provide Rs 9 billion to HEC
ISLAMABAD: The Finance Ministry of Pakistan has decided to provide the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Rs 9 billion.
The decision was taken during a meeting between HEC Chairman Javed Leghari and Finance Minister Saleem Mandviwalla. According to sources Leghari informed Mandviwalla about the financial difficulties being faced by universities.
Of the 9 billion, 3 billion has been earmarked for developmental expenses including upgrading existing and new campuses. While 3 billion has been earmarked for running expenses including paying utility bills and for fuel to run campus bus services. The remaining 3 billion has been earmarked for paying salaries and increasing pensions.
