Imran wants a neutral person as interim PM
* PTI chief says Zardari and Nawaz had damaged country the most during the last five years
By Abdul Khaliq Qureshi
ABOTTABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday called for appointing a non-political and neutral person as caretaker prime minister of the country.
Addressing public gatherings in Haripur, Hawailian and Abbottabad regarding the PTI’s mass contact drive, Imran said President Asif Zardari and Nawaz Sharif had damaged country the most during the last five years.
He said the people were well aware of political tactics of both the leaders and that they will face public wrath in the forthcoming general election.
The PTI chief wondered that JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman remained ally of President Zardari for the last five years but now has sided with Nawaz Sharif to win the next elections.
He said that Asif Zardari and Nawaz Sharif had their assets in foreign countries and that they could realise the problems of the masses. “The rulers are becoming billionaires while the common people are getting poorer with each passing day,” he maintained.
Imran said criminals were ruling the roost and terrorists were killing the people in broad daylight while no one was safe from Karachi to Waziristan.
“Despite rampant killings, abductions and extortions, not a single perpetrator has been executed for these heinous crimes. Government’s writ seems nowhere in the country,” he said and added the PTI would unite the people of Pakistan.
He said that the PTI will hold a historical public gathering on March 23 at Minar-e-Pakistan, adding that the PTI would unite the nation to rid the country of sectarianism. He said PTI’s tsunami will hit Peshawar on March 10.
“The rulers have made a historical mistake by plunging into the US war against terrorism in which over 5 million people has lost their lives,” Imran Khan observed. The PTI after coming into power would disengage from the US-led war and unshackle the fetters of the US slavery once and for all, he vowed.
Imran said if voted to power, PTI would create a new Pakistan free from external influences and interference wherein the youth would be provided ample employment opportunities. Imran said that a profit earning institution like Pakistan Steel Mills is facing Rs 50 billion deficit at present, adding that rulers have brought the country on the verge of bankruptcy.
“There is rampant corruption in the country, which is increasing at alarming pace with each passing day. But no one is there to take action against those responsible, as the rulers as well as opposition are busy in playing mock-wrestling for the last five years to protect their own interests,” he added.
The PTI chairman said owing to sky-rocketing inflation and rampant corruption, the poor are struggling to make both ends meet. He vowed that the PTI would put an end to corruption and bring foreign investment in the country.
He said the PTI will start its election campaign from March 23 after holding oath-taking public gathering in Lahore. The people will not vote those to power again who are busy in underhand deals, he added. Imran made it clear that the PTI after coming into power will not only eradicate terrorism, sectarianism, unemployment and poverty from the country, but also restore the respect of the green passport globally.
If the youth backed him in the next general polls, Imran Khan vowed that he would bring about real change in the country by taking two wickets with one ball.
