PESHAWAR: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan said that the successful holding of intra-party elections in the PTI would ultimately end family politics in the country.
Addressing a public meeting here, Imran Khan said that the elections had paved way for the common man to clinch party portfolios, which highlighted the value of vote.
He was on a two-day visit to Peshawar to lay foundation of cancer hospital on Saturday and thence attend a mammoth political gathering on Sunday ahead of upcoming elections.
He said the PTI election manifesto would be launched on March 23 in Lahore.
Imran also vowed to overcome terrorism in the country through negotiations once his party was voted to power in upcoming elections, he said.
Corruption and incompetent leadership, the PTI chief maintained, were the country’s key issues. “The rulers are making bucks and they have no concerns for the people.”
He said that under the “Change Volunteer Programme”, one million volunteers would deliver PTI’s message to every household in the country. These volunteers will help avert rigging in the polls, he added.Imran said he would resign the day his son became the PTI leader.
He said that the manifesto of PTI aimed at steering the country out of crises, would be made public on March 23. Those, who are predicting the end of tsunami, should know that the Tehrik-e-Insaf has been transformed into a power, which is heading towards success, he claimed.
He said that the newly-elected office-bearers could expel anyone from the Tehrik-e-Insaf. The political parties are merely limited companies as their portfolios are divided among the kith and kin, he added.
The PTI chief said that the elected office-bearers were entitled to hold the party leadership accountable and their authority in that regard could not be undermined.
He said that the elements involved in corruption could not lead the people in a true manner.
The PTI chief said that the world leaders, who earned good name, were neither corrupt nor preferred their personal interests, rather they worked for the progress and development of their nations in the real sense.
The PTI leadership is in the hands of youth, which is a sign of real change in the country, he added. Imran said that his party had a solid programme to root out militancy, besides settling other national issues.
He strongly condemned the ongoing wave of violence in the country and attack on the Christian community in Lahore.
The PTI chairman said that the biggest problem faced by Pakistan was corruption and incompetent leadership. He said that if elected his party would resolve the terrorism issue through dialogue.
