Nisar withdraws Justice (retd) Shakirullah, rejects government nomineesISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has announced that the name of Justice (retd) Shakirullah Jan has been withdrawn from the opposition’s list of nominees for caretaker prime minister.
Speaking to the media, Nisar said he had written a letter to Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, adding that there would be no compromise on the caretaker prime minister and chief minister of Punjab.
Nisar also rejected the nominees proposed by the government. “One nominee was the finance minister 15 days ago, Justice (retd) Khoso was close to Benazir Bhutto and Ishrat Husain does not meet the criteria for caretaker PM.”
Justice (retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid and Rasool Bux Palijo are the reaming nominees of the opposition for the post of caretaker prime minister.
The government has proposed the names of Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Dr Ishrat Husain and Justice (retd) Hazar Khan Khoso.
According to sources, the PML-N will push Justice (retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid for caretaker prime minister if the issue of appointment is sent to the Election Commission of Pakistan.
