PML-Q leader quits party to join PML-NLAHORE: Federal Education Minister Sheikh Waqas Akram backed by the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) has announced to leave his party and join the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Thursday. Akram announced this decision in a news conference with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and other PML-N parliamentary leaders, like Senator Pervez Rasheed, Khawaja Saad Rafique and Khawaja Asif here at Model Town. Interestingly, Sheikh was a strong critic of the Sharif brothers inside and outside parliament as a senior vice president of the PML-Q and had also levelled some serious allegations on the PML-N leadership regarding association and links with the terrorist groups. Akram, a 40-year-old politician from Jhang district, has twice won elections of the National Assembly from constituency NA-89 on PML-Q ticket. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shahbaz expressed his pleasure over his decision and welcomed him to his party, PML-N, saying that his party was planning to establish a public university in Jhang after wining the upcoming general elections and coming into power. staff report
