Deadlock over dissolution of assemblies on same day

ISLAMABAD: The impasse over dissolution of all provincial assemblies on the same day continues even after the deliberations between the four chief ministers and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf here on Saturday.

Though the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif terms the meeting positive and says there is no deadlock over the issue, he was reported to have told the meeting that he could make any decision to dissolve the Punjab Assembly only after consultation with his elder brother and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President, Nawaz Sharif.

On the other hand Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani has also threatened that he would not be sending advice for assembly’s dissolution on March 19.

Sources said that he was angry, as he could not get assurance to address certain issues.

Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, KPK Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti, Punjab Chief Shahbaz Sharif and Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani were summoned by Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf in a bid to hammer out a consensus to dissolve all the provincial assemblies on a same day.

The sources said that the chief ministers agreed to hold election for provincial assemblies on a same date.
