Election Commission allots electoral symbols to parties

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has allotted symbols to different political parties for the general elections, Geo News reported.

According to sources, PML-N has been allotted the symbol of 'Lion'‚ PML-Q 'Bicycle'‚ Jamaat-e-Islami 'Scale' ‚ Awami National Party 'Lantern' ‚ MQM 'Kite'‚ Pakistan Muslim League-F 'Flower'‚ Jamhoori Watan Party 'Wheel'‚ Tehrik-e-Tahafuz Pakistan 'Missile'‚ whereas the symbol of 'Book' has been allotted to JUI-F.

The commission has allotted the symbol of 'Bat' to Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf‚ 'Tree' to PMAP‚ 'Inkpot & Pen' to Pakistan Awami Muslim League and 'Camel' to Balochistan National Party.

However the decision on the allotment of symbol of arrow will be taken on the 25th of this month at a meeting of the Election Commission.

Talking to media outside the Election Commission PPP leader Syed Samsam Bukhari hoped that the symbol of arrow would be allotted to PPPP.

He said that party contested the previous elections in 2002 and 2008 with the symbol of arrow and thus PPPP can rightfully demand this symbol for the elections 2013.

Earlier a meeting of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) held in Islamabad to allot election symbols to political parties.

The commission invited the representatives of all the applicants to receive the allotment of electoral symbols.
