Chaurdhry Shujaat, Fazlur Rehman discuss caretaker PM appointmentISLAMABAD: PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat called JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Wednesday.
During their telephone conversation, the two leaders discussed the appointment of the caretaker prime minister and the political situation in the country.
Fazlur Rehman had earlier expressed reservations over Chaudhry Nisar’s decision to withdraw the name of Justice (R) Shakirullah Jan from the list of the opposition’s nominees for caretaker prime minister.
Chaudhry Shujaat is part of an eight member parliamentary committee which has been formed for the appointment of the caretaker prime minister. The committee will hold its first meeting on Wednesday and has three days to reach a consensus on the appointment.
If the committee fails to reach a consensus, the matter will be sent to the Election Commission of Pakistan which will then decide on a name within two days.
