ECP begins preparations for candidates’ scrutiny

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has kicked off preparations for conducting scrutiny of candidates planning to contest the next general elections scheduled to be held on May 11.

In order to gear up its effort towards performing the important task of candidates’ scrutiny, the ECP has already sought lists of potential contenders’ names who have defaulted on payments against their utility bills.

According to sources, the ECP will get hold of all the necessary details relating to the defaulting candidates from the National Accountability Burearu (NAB).

The ECP and NAB have also taken a decision to set up a hotline for exchange of information relating to the candidates. In this regard, directions have been issued to National Telecommunication Company.
