No decision on caretaker PM, Election Commission meeting continues
ISLAMABAD: The meeting of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) continues as there has been no decision reached on the appointment of a caretaker prime minister.
Speaking to media, ECP Secretary Ishtaiq Ahmed said the meeting was being headed by the Chief Election Commissioner Fakhrudin G Ebrahim and included members from Punjab, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Ahmed added that Sindh member Rosha Ehsani was not present and had a flight scheduled for 7:00 PM.
According to the ECP Secretary the meeting will continue and the commission had Saturday and Sunday to announce an appointment. He further added that the media would be briefed at 10:00 PM about the meeting.
The ECP is tasked with appointing a caretaker prime minister in two days from a list of candidates provided by the government and opposition.
The candidates include, Justice (retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid, Justice (retd) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso, Dr Ishrat Hussain and Rasool Bakhsh Palijo.
