Interim Balochistan CM to take oath today
Staff Report
QUETTA: The caretaker Chief Minister of Balochistan, Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Barozai would take oath on Saturday (today).
Erstwhile Chief Minister of the province, Nawab Aslam Raisani and Opposition Leader Nawabzada Tariq Magsi decided the name of Barozai for the slot of interim chief minister on Thursday.
Governor Balochistan Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi would administer oath to Barozai at the Governor House and the event would be attended by Raisani and other officials. The formation of interim cabinet is also expected soon after caretaker chief minister takes oath.
Barozai has vowed that the interim cabinet would be formed on merit and it would be announced soon. He said he would strive to ensure transparent and timely conduction of elections in the province, besides making efforts to maintain law and order during the interim setup.
Raisani has expressed hope that the interim cabinet of Balochistan would also soon be announced after consultation with opposition.
On the other hand, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) has decided to withdraw its application submitted in the Supreme Court, challenging restoration of Nawabzada Tariq Magsi as Opposition leader by Balochistan High Court.
Balochistan High Court had termed JUI-F leader Maulan Abdul Wasay and former senior provincial minister as opposition leader. However, JUI-F after consensus on caretaker chief minister decided to take back its application from the apex court.
