Wattoo directs district information secretaries to improve PPP’s image

LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) district information secretaries are equally important who can make qualitative difference in regaining the popularity of the party in Punjab, which is its birthplace and used to be its stronghold, PPP Punjab President Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said the other day.
He was speaking while presided over a meeting of the district information secretaries hailing from different districts of the province.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed decided to send instructions to the district presidents to get involved with the information secretaries to ensure the proper coverage of the activities of the party at the grassroots level.
“This improvement can only be brought jointly by the top hierarchy of the PPP at the district level with the active participation of the people responsible for media coverage.”
Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo decided that the he would ensure the convening of his meeting with them at least once a month in Lahore, aimed to review their performance and also to get suggestions to improve their working to ensure party rapport with all and sundry in the interest of democracy.
He assured the information secretaries that he would arrange the supply of computer and fax facilities at their offices at the direct level. “It will ensure better communication between the PPP Punjab and its branches at the district level.”
The PPP Punjab president announced that outstanding information secretary meritorious services would be recognised by the high command in a function organised for the purpose.
He underscored the importance of using modern techniques of projection of party policies and its political philosophy based on the information technology advancements to earn a competitive edge over other political parties.
Earlier, the district information secretaries recalled the importance Benazir Bhutto used to give to them at par with the presidents of the district because she knew their critical role for the party’s uplift and its image.
All of them were unanimous in their views that Wattoo was the first president of Punjab who also fully understood the usefulness of the information secretaries and therefore he himself presided over their meeting in Lahore to motivate them to do their work with dedication and commitment, which was surely going to make a big difference for the party.
In the meeting PPP Punjab Secretary General Tanvir Ashraf Kaira, Media Adviser to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Fawad Chaudhry and senior officials of the PPP Media Cell Lahore were also present.
