Pak-India Joint Working Group meets today

ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the Pakistan-India Joint Working Group (JWG) on cross-LoC confidence building measures (CBMs) will be held in New Delhi today (Tuesday) to streamline trade across the LoC.
Pakistan’s delegation will be headed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General (South Asia) Riffat Masood, while the Indian side will be led by Ministry of External Affairs Joint Secretary Rudrendra Tandon. Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry and Indian High Commissioner Dr TCA Raghavan in a meeting held on January 25 decided to hold a meeting of the Joint Working Group. The JWG would discuss ways and means to further streamline and improve the modalities regarding trade across the LoC.
Following the alleged discovery of some narcotics in one of the trucks from the AJK side on January 15, trade and travel across the LoC had been suspended. Subsequently, it was resumed.
