Khurshid opposes army involvement in talks with Taliban

KARACHI: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursh Shah said on Wednesday that inclusion of any army officer in the government committee to hold talks with the Taliban will be dangerous.

In a statement the, PPP stalwart said that any army official is included in such a committee in case of a ceasefire with enemy country after a battle.

He said that army was meant to obey government’s order and armed forces’ involvement in peace talks with terrorists would produce very dangerous results.

The Opposition Leader said a retired army man could be included in the committee if it was as important.

Shah said that the terrorists were murderers of 60,000 Pakistanis and it would be an irony to see army sitting with them.
