PM Nawaz, Imran discuss Taliban peace talks
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday held a meeting with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, Geo News reported.
In the meeting held at the Islamabad residence of the PTI chief, PM Nawaz Sharif exchanged views with Imran Khan on the dialogue process with Taliban.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and coordinator government committee for peace talks Irfan Siddiqui were also present during the meeting.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif informed the PTI chairman that the government had given first preference to the dialogue process. He added the first phase of the dialogue process was successful due to the government’s efforts.
Imran Khan said that dialogue should remain the first and an operation the last operation. He assured the prime minister of unconditional support in the dialogue process.
The PTI chairman added that the Taliban ceasefire was a major accomplishment had should be capitalized upon. According to Khan those groups who did not want to engage in dialogue should be separated.
Imran Khan advised the prime minister to include immunisation against polio as part of the dialogue process with the Taliban.
