Canadian military chief, COAS discuss defence cooperation

 

RAWALPINDI: Canadian Defence Forces Chief of Defence Staff General Thomas J Lawson called on Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif at the General Headquarters here on Thursday.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest and bilateral defence cooperation were discussed, said an ISPR press release. Earlier on arrival at General Headquarters a smartly-turned-out contingent presented guard of honour to the Canadian chief of defence staff, who laid a wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhuda and paid tribute to the sacrifices of Pakistan Army for peace and stability in the region. General Lawson also called on Defence Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif and Defence Secretary Lt General (r) Asif Yasin Malik on Thursday. Pakistan and Canada enjoy cordial relations. Canada was the first country to establish diplomatic relations with Pakistan. Ever since it has played a key role in enhancing diplomatic relations. The defence minister said that relations between Pakistan and Canada have been warm historically and we want that they pick up again with same zeal and fervour.
