Taliban talks committee meets Ch. Nisar

ISLAMABAD: The Taliban negotiating committee headed by Mauala Samiul Haq called on Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan here on Saturday, Geo News reported.

The Taliban team briefed Chaudhry Nisar about their meeting with Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) shura.

According to the sources, the Taliban have constituted a committee comprising of their representatives that would hold direct talks with the government’s new committee. Both the committees would meet soon.

The meeting also deliberated upon the venues of the negotiation meeting, sources said. The government proposed Bannu Airport while the Taliban suggested Miranshah as the venues of the meeting.

Maulana Samilul Haq rejects advice of any “Super Committee” of the government, the sources said.

He urged both the parties to move the dialogue process forward on equal level. Samiul Haq and Professor Ibrahim would facilitate talks process.

The interior minister assured the Taliban committee of cooperation for moving forward the peace process. He also appreciated the efforts of talks committee.

Nisar said: "the government is making efforts sincerely for the success of dialogue process".

Maulana Samiul Haq said he was optimistic that bilateral contacts would pave way for peace in the country.
