Commonwealth of Learning verifies AIOU as quality varsity

ISLAMABAD: Commonwealth of Learning (COL) has verified Allama Iqbal Open University as a quality institution of distance learning. In a briefing here on Friday, Vice Chancellor Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Dr Nazir Ahmad Sangi said the verification of COL will increase acceptability of AIOU’s degrees in international organisations and universities. He said now the graduates of the university will get more better jobs in the international market and find it easier to pursue education in colleges and universities abroad. The Commonwealth of Learning (COL) is an intergovernmental organisation created by Commonwealth Heads of Govt to encourage the development and sharing of open learning and distance education knowledge, resources and technologies. COL is helping developing nations improve access to quality education and training.
According to the Verification Report of Commonwealth of Learning prepared by Professor Uma Coomaraswamy last June, it is verified that the level of achievement of AIOU demonstrates that it has the capacity to respond to changing environment and it had strived to meet stakeholders needs and expectations.
