Faiz Ghar organises an evening with Om Puri
LAHORE: Faiz Ghar held an interactive session with Om Puri at their premises on Friday.
Puri held an interactive session with his fans and the general public who came to hear him at the Faiz Ghar. He talked about his life in detail, especially his humble beginnings.
Born in Ambala, Haryana, Puri came from a small Punjabi background. And in his words, he had zero knowledge of the English language, something that was to give him a hard time when he started his acting career. He did small dramas in the beginning. Later, he went to Pune to study acting at the Film and Television Institute of India, where he was acknowledged and appreciated for his talent. From where on he went onto study at the National School of Drama, where, he said, his teachers helped me a lot with his acting and his English language skills. “They told me to read. Especially newspapers.”
From then on, Om Puri has starred not just in mainstream Bollywood movies but many independent art movies as well as British and Hollywood productions.Courtesy www.dailytimes.com.pk
