Imran vows zero tolerance over nepotism
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday held meetings with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM and parliamentarians.
In his meeting with the MPAs, Imran told them that the party’s position was very clear on governance and he would not tolerate nepotism, political interference in the bureaucracy and police or any hint of corruption on the part of its legislators. He told the MPAs that he had struggled for 17 years to bring change. He added that he would not compromise now and allow the PTI to turn into a party of the status quo.
He would prefer the PTI to sit on the opposition benches rather to be a status quo party. The PTI chairman said that he would personally monitor the performance of the ministers over the next three months with the help of the CM.
Imran added that the cabinet reshuffle was required to improve the performance of the provincial government to enable it to deliver on electoral commitments made to the people of the province.
He also pointed out the reports of attempts made by legislators to seek transfers and postings of bureaucrats and police officers, and reiterated that the PTI had zero tolerance for such a behaviour.
He said that the PTI had been elected to bring change, so the party could not break the trust of the people who had elected their representatives.
Imran appreciated the efforts of the KP government for enhancing the agenda of change in many sectors. He felt that unless there was a deliberate and conscious effort made to end the old corrupt political and bureaucratic ways that function across the board, the agenda of change would be impeded. He also emphasised that legislators must lead by example and should not do anything that would leave them in suspicion. The PTI chief made it clear that his party would not compromise on its core commitment of transparency, competent governance and justice for all, to make Naya Pakistan a reality in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which would be the role model for other provinces.
