PM announces cash aid for drought victims

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has decided to give cash compensation to the famine-hit people of Tharparkar. The cash compensation will be given to seventy eight thousand victims of the drought. The prime minister noted that poverty, disease and lack of ration has added to the woes of the Thar poeple. He directed that beneficiaries of the Income Support Program be given three times higher compensation in the next six months. Nawaz Sharif said transparency will be ensured in the disbursement of cash compensation to the Thar victims. He said the cash compensation will enable the victims to purchase essential commodities.
