Nisar, acting US envoy discuss security situation

ISLAMABAD: Acting US Ambassador to Pakistan Thomas Williams called on Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Monday and discussed matters relating to bilateral relations, with particular reference to security situation in the region.
Chaudhry Nisar said that Pakistan and US enjoy good relations in all fields and the government desired to further strengthen them in the years to come.
He highlighted the need for greater transparency in bilateral relations between the two countries and said it would help further strengthen ties.
The minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the government of PML-N was committed to following a non-partisan policy in regional matters, especially in the wake of withdrawal of international forces from Afghanistan.
Williams expressed the confidence that the recently presented National Internal Security Policy would be helpful in meeting the challenges of terrorism and militancy faced by Pakistan.
