Investment process continuing speedily in Pakistan: Shahbaz

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that investment process is continuing speedily in Pakistan with the cooperation of China and the historic investment package of 32 billion dollars by People’s Republic of China will usher in a new era of development in Pakistan while economic and trade relations between the two countries would further strengthen.
He said that government is determined to resolve energy crisis being faced by the country as soon as possible and maximum facilities and protection is being extended to investors in power sector.
He was talking to a delegation of China Grezhouba Group Company, which met him in Islamabad on Tuesday. Secretary Minerals Sibtain Fazal Haleem was also present on the occasion. Talking to the representatives of the Chinese company, the Chief Minister said that China and Pakistan are bound together in strong ties of friendship and China has extended commendable cooperation to Pakistan in different sectors.
He said that China has stood by the government and people of Pakistan in every hour of need and the relationship between two countries is based on mutual respect. He said that energy crisis being faced by Pakistan has badly affected agriculture, health, education and different social sectors.
He said that leadership of Pakistan Muslim League-N is making all out efforts to rid the country of the shortage of electricity. He said that China has offered Pakistan to set up 20 thousand megawatt coal based power projects in the country, which will rid the nation of darkness and load-shedding. He said that there is a favorable atmosphere for investment in Pakistan and all out facilities are being given to the investors under one roof. He said that Chinese companies could benefit from this opportunity and make investment in energy and other sectors.
The Chief Minister said that on the instructions of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, such policies have been formulated which would create maximum opportunities for investment in energy and other sectors. He said that negotiations are continuing with several Chinese companies for development of water and energy resources while work has been started on a number of projects which will help meet the energy requirements of the country.
He said that projects based on traditional and alternative resources of generation of power including hydel, thermal, solar, coal and bagasse are being executed. He said that Nandipur Power Project being executed with the cooperation of China is near completion while work is in progress on Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Bahawalpur as well.
He said that early implementation of power generation projects is being ensured. He said that Pakistan is rich in natural resources and the government is utilizing all out resources for exploration of minerals and natural wealth.
The leader of Chinese delegation Hie Kai exchanged views with the Chief Minister Punjab on various water and energy related projects and discussed various options for benefiting from natural resources. He expressed willingness to cooperate with Punjab government in mining and energy sectors.
