Altaf urges rulers to refrain from repeating past mistakes
KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has urged the rulers not to indulge in a war to serve the interests of other countries.
He said that Pakistan had already incurred losses and as a patriot he would not wish his country to be involved in an affair which could lead to serious consequences for the coming generations.
Altaf Hussain said that he had said nothing wrong in his Tuesday speech but some elements on TV channels were bent on criticizing the MQM by picking up some words out of context.
Hussain rejected the impression that he had invited army to rebel and said that Pakistan had been used in others wars in the past and the tendency might lead to country’s destruction if rulers didn’t learn from the earlier mistakes.
He said that Pakistan army troops were sent to Afghanistan, Jordan and Somalia in the past. The MQM chief said that the army should disobey the orders if rulers ordered them to send arms and troops for the killing of Muslims in any country.
Citing a Supreme Court order, he said that the top court in a ruling in 1995 had held that a government employee should not obey the illegal orders of higher authorities.
