PPP denies ‘friendly opposition’ charge

ISLAMABAD: On the eve of the new session of the National Assembly, opposition leader Syed Khursheed Shah again rejected the impression that the Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPP) was playing the role of a friendly opposition.
“We are with the government on important national issues. However, it would be wrong to dub PPPP as friendly opposition,” Shah stated in a brief talk with the newsmen at Parliament House on Friday.
Shah rejected the notion that opposition is simply meant to fight with the government and said that it is not so as has been held by various corners. To a query about the new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Shah said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had not made any contact yet for consultations on the appointment of CEC.
About the statement of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif not to send the troops to any othr country, Shah said that he took the statements of the Prime Minister on important issues seriously” and noted that statement issued by Nawaz not sending troops to others countries should be believed.
