Nation celebrates Pakistan Day

KARACHI:Pakistan Day is being celebrated throughout the country with traditional fervour to commemorate the Lahore Resolution of 1940.

During the day, special prayers will be held for security and prosperity of the country at all places of worship.

The day dawned with a 31-gun salute at sun rise in Rawalpindi and 21-gun salute at all the provincial capitals.

An investiture ceremony will be held at the Presidency, in which the President will confer awards on prominent personalities from various walks of life.

Pakistan’s flag were hoisted atop principal public and private buildings throughout the country.

Flags were hoisted on all Pakistani missions abroad during ceremonies to be attended by members of the Pakistani community.

Messages of the president and prime minister to the nation will be read out on the occasion.

Girl Guides, Boy Scouts and students will take out rallies and documentary films will be shown to the schoolchildren and the public at large in all cinema houses.

Television and radio stations will broadcast special programmes and newspapers will take out special supplements to highlight the significance of the day.

Seminars, poetry recitation events, exhibitions of photographs and documents relating to the Pakistan Movement, Qirat contests, debates and essay competitions will be arranged in cities and towns. Sweets and gifts will be distributed at orphanages and Darul Amans and special meals will be served to prisoners across the country.
