Aid announced by PM for Tharis not disbursed: Memon
KARACHI: Information Minister Sharjeel Memon said that the aid announced by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for the drought-affected residents of Thar had not been disbursed.
During his visit to Thar, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had announced Rs1 billion in federal aid for the drought-affected people.
Memon added that 90 per cent of the population from Cholistan had migrated because of famine.
MQM Joining Federal Government
Earlier while speaking to reporters outside the Sindh Assembly, Sharjeel Memon said he would neither confirm nor deny news relating to the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) joining the Sindh government.
Karachi Crime
Memon said those accused who had confessed to committing murders had been transferred to other jails and he considered them terrorists. He added that police and Rangers had arrested several terrorists and cases had been registered against them.
According to Memon there would be no compromise on the transfer of prisoners from Karachi jails.
