HRCP demands probe into JSQM leader’s killings

LAHORE: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has expressed serious concerns over the killing of two leaders of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) and called for a transparent probe to nab the killers.
In a statement issued on Monday, the commission said, “HRCP wants to voice its grave concern over the well planned killing of JSQM leaders Maqsood Qureshi and Salman Wadho, whose charred bodies were found in a torched car in Naushehro Feroze district on Friday. “HRCP rejects violence in all instances and would like to point out that the killings of the political dissidents have never yielded positive results,” HRCP said in a statement.
“In previous killings of the political activists in Sindh and elsewhere in Pakistan, the government had vowed to hold an investigation but not much has happened,” HRCP said.
“It is imperative that the matter is fully probed. While calling for a transparent investigation in a prompt manner, HRCP also demands that the probe itself and its findings should be transparent in order to address any bitterness or misgivings and to prevent peace and tranquillity from further taking a hit,” the statement concluded.
