Akram Sheikh alleges being threatened by Musharraf’s lawyer

ISLAMABAD: The prosecutor in the high-treason case of former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf has alleged being threatened by a defence attorney in the case.

Arguing in his defence against objections raised over the prosecutor’s appointment in the case, Sheikh said he had received threats of his eyes being gouged out and tongue being ripped by Musharraf’s lawyer Akhtar Shah.

According to Sheikh, FIA had written a letter to the Law Ministry for a prosecutor in the case and recommended four names. Sheikh said personally he was neither faithful to Nawaz Sharif nor an enemy of Musharraf.

Sheikh added that there were no constitutional or legal loopholes in the notification of the prosecutor’s appointment.

The prosecutor said that according to his experience this was a case which should be completed within eight to ten days.

The decision over objections regarding the prosecutor has been reserved and the hearing of the case adjourned till tomorrow (Thursday).
