Pakistan has no clue to missing Iranian guards
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday denied having any knowledge about the missing Iranian guards, which Iran claims are on Pakistani soil.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tasneem Aslam said that the guards were abducted from Sistan-Baluchistan province of Iran and the responsibility was taken by an organisation named Jaishul Adl. “Pakistan will fully cooperate with Iran for the recovery of missing guards,” she said, adding that the issue was discussed on phone by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. While answering a question, she said that the body of the guard who slain by his captors was not recovered from Pakistan’s territory. Aslam said Pakistan enjoys good relations with Iran and a joint mechanism for security cooperation exists between the two countries.
On BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s recent anti-Pakistan statements, the spokesperson said it is unfortunate that Pakistan becomes an issue of election campaign in India. “Pakistan strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations”. Tasneem reiterated Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir dispute and urged India to sit with Pakistan for the resolution of all outstanding issues, including Jammu and Kashmir. “Pakistan wants to resolve the dispute through dialogue as it is imperative for development of the region and welfare of people,” the spokesperson added.
She said Pakistan wanted the international community to convince India for resumption of composite dialogue. She said presence of UN military group across LoC in Kashmir indicates that this is internationally recognised dispute, and it is not the internal matter of India.
