PPP backs Khurshid Shah’s stand of hunger strike
Online
LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party Punjab appreciated the unflinching stand of Opposition Leader Syed Khurshid Shah in which he made it clear to the government that he will go on a hunger strike till death if the government terminated the services of those who were provided employment by the PPP governments. This was expressed by Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo in a statement issued on Sunday. He said that the government was well advised not to take such inhuman action on the recommendations of short-sighted economic managers for obvious reasons as it would trigger wide spread protest against the government decrying that it had embarked upon the trajectory of mass economic murder of millions of families. He observed that instead of contemplating to address the management issues of state owned enterprises it was nudging the already poor to abject poverty to lead their lives in miseries till starvation overtake them and deny them lease of life. He added that if the stage came and the sacked employees take to the street they would not find PPP, its workers and leadership lagging behind and would not rest till spearheading such protest to pleasing conclusion in favour of the victims. Such ruthless policies were totally devoid of the imperatives of social justice, he opined.
