88 Pakistani prisoners to be extradited from India

ISLAMABAD: Following successful negotiations, Pakistan is set to bring back 88 prisoners from India during 2013-14.
According to media reports 66 prisoners were released from Indian jails in 2013 and 22 freed in 2014, adding that 6 Pakistani prisoners were also come back from Afghanistan with efforts of the government. These Pakistanis were detained on charges of overstay and other minor crimes, he said. Pakistan and India are bound to exchange lists of prisoners with each other’s custody time to time under an agreement and consular access which was signed between the two countries. While under this agreement both the countries are required to exchange lists of prisoners in each other’s custody twice a year. It is pertinent to mention here that both the countries release prisoners for showing harmony and goodwill gestures.
