SHC orders to remove model Ayyan’s name from ECL
KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday directed the authorities concerned to strike model Ayyan Ali’s name off the exit control list (ECL).
Ayyan had filed a plea in the SHC praying that she be allowed to accompany her ailing mother for her treatment abroad. Her lawyer told the court that his client had already been granted bail in the money laundering case which she was being tried for.
The additional attorney general asked the court for time to implement the orders, after which the court stayed its decision for a further 10 days.
Ayyan’s name had been placed on the ECL on November 20, 2015. She was arrested from the Benazir Bhutto International Airport in March last year after custom officials discovered over half a million dollars in her suitcase.
